A Personal Accident Insurance is a type of Insurance Policy which reimburses the Insured Person if he/she suffers from an Accidental Death or Permanent or Temporary Disability on account of an Accident.
What are the Coverages under a Personal Accident Insurance Policy?
A Basic Personal Accident Insurance Policy provides reimbursement to the Insured Person for the following:

Accidental Death:
If the Insured Person dies due to an Accident, the PA Insurance Policy will pay the Sum Insured specified in the Policy Schedule. -
Permanent Total Disability:
If an Insured Person suffers from Permanent Total Disablement, he would receive compensation as specified in the Policy Schedule.
Permanent Total Disability for the purpose of PA Insurance implies the following:
- Loss of Sight of both eyes
- Physical Separation of or the Loss of Ability to use both hands or both feet
- Physical Separation of or the Loss of Ability to use one hand and one foot
- Loss of Sight of one eye and the Physical Separation of or the Loss of Ability to use either one hand or one foot

Permanent Partial Disability:
If the Insured Person suffers from an Accidental Bodily Injury which results in Permanent Partial Disability, the Insurance Policy will pay the Sum Insured specified in the Policy Schedule.

What is Accidental Hospitalisation Expenses Add-On Cover in a Personal Accident Insurance Policy?
If the Insured Person is hospitalised for a minimum period of 24 hours on the advice of a Doctor on account of an Accidental Bodily Injury, the Cover will pay for the Hospitalisation Expenses incurred by the Insured for the treatment.
If the Accidental Hospitalisation Claim has been accepted, the Add-On Cover will also pay tor the Pre and Post-Hospitalisation Expenses.
What is Transportation of Mortal Remains Add-On Cover in a Personal Accident Insurance Policy?
This Add-On Cover compensates 1% of Accidental Death Sum Insured to transport the body of the Insured Person from the place of death to the hospital or the cremation or burial grounds.
What is Adventure Sports Cover Add-On Cover in a Personal Accident Insurance Policy?
Basic Personal Accident Policies exclude Accidental Death or Injury caused due to participation of the Insured Person in Adventure Sports like Bungee Jumping, Water Sports etc
However, if you opt for the Adventure Sports Add-On Cover, the Policy would reimburse if the Insured Person dies or suffers from Permanent Disablement on account of an Accident caused due to him participating in Adventure Sports.
This Add-On Cover is really useful for people who are likely to travel abroad and participate in such activities.
What is Children's Education Benefit Add-On Cover in a Personal Accident Insurance Policy?
If the Insured Person who is the family's breadwinner suffers from Accidental Death or Permanent Disablement, some huge expenses of the family which are pending are likely to suffer a blow.
Children's Education Expense is one such expense. Education Expenses these days are substantial.
A PA Insurance Policy with an Add-On Cover for Children's Education Expenses will pay the specified Sum Insured for Children's Education if the Insured Person suffers from Accidental Death or Permanent Disablement.
What is EMI Payment Add-On Cover in a Personal Accident Insurance Policy?
If an Insured Person suffers from an Accidental Bodily Injury which results in Permanent Partial Disability preventing the Insured Person from performing his employment duties for a period of 1 month, then the Policy would pay the amount commensurate with the Insured Person's contribution to the EMI in the Loan Account.
This Cover would cease to make the EMI Payments as soon as the Insured Person recovers to the extent that he can perform his employment duties or after a period of 3 months of the Accidental Bodily Injury whichever is earlier.
What is Loan Protector Add-On Cover in a Personal Accident Insurance Policy?
If the Insured Person sustains an Accidental Bodily Injury resulting in Death or Permanent Total Disablement, then the Loan Protector Cover will pay the Balance Outstanding Loan Amount of the Loan Account specified in the Policy Schedule as on the Date of the Accident as per the Terms and Conditions of the Policy.
What is Loss of Income due to Accidental Disability Add-On Cover in a Personal Accident Insurance Policy?
If the Insured opts for Loss of Income due to Accidental Disability Add-On Cover as part of the Personal Accident Insurance Policy, the Policy would reimburse the Insured Person a Weekly Benefit of 25% of Monthly income. This Add-On Cover helps the Insured Person replace the Income that he has lost as a result of the Disability caused due to an Accident. The Weekly Benefit is payable for a maximum of 100 weeks.
