A Super Top-Up Health Insurance Policy is a Health Insurance Policy which reimburses the Insured for hospitalisation expenses above the Deductible Amount. So, a Super Top-Up health Insurance Policy starts paying out the Insurance Claim once the Hospital Bill exceeds the Deductible Amount. A Super Top-Up health Insurance Policy provides coverage for Hospitalisation Expenses, Pre and Post- Hospitalisation Expenses, Daycare procedures etc. like a regular Health Insurance Policy. Policyholders choose the Deductible Amount at the time of purchasing the Super Top-Up Health Insurance Policy. It allows you to increase your Sum Insured at a very reasonable premium. A Super Top-Up Health Insurance Policy can be taken either as an Individual Health Insurance Policy or a Family Floater Health Insurance Policy.
A Super Top-Up Health Insurance Policy reimburses the Insured only when the Claim Amount exceeds the Deductible Amount.
For Example: Mr Gupta has a Super Top-Up Health Insurance Policy of Rs5 lakhs with a deductible of Rs2 lakhs. This means that Mr. Gupta’s Super Top-Up Health Insurance Policy will pay claims only when the medical expenses exceed Rs2 Lakhs. Unfortunately, Mr Gupta has to be hospitalized due to an accident which required a surgery costing Rs6 lakhs. The Super Top Up Plan will reimburse Mr Gupta for Rs4 lakhs. The initial Rs2 lakhs of the treatment cost, which is the deductible limit will have to be borne by Mr Gupta himself.
A deductible in a Super Top-Up Health Insurance Policy means the limit above which the Insurance Policy will reimburse the insured person. For Example: Mr Gupta has a Super Top-Up Health Insurance Policy of Rs5 lakhs with a deductible of Rs2 lakhs. This means that Mr. Gupta’s Super Top-Up Health Insurance Policy will pay claims only when the claim amount exceeds Rs2 Lakhs. The initial Rs2 Lakhs of medical expenses will have to be borne by Mr. Gupta himself.
